Dr Angie Lang never set out to become a product developer.
She just wanted to solve a recurring problem she saw in her dental clinic.
Not longer after starting in clinical practice, Angie noticed something strange. Even her healthiest patients—those who ate well and exercised—were showing signs of acid wear on their teeth.
They weren’t eating much sugar.
They were doing “all the right things.”
But their enamel was still eroding.
“I’d take photos of their teeth every six months,” Dr Lang said. “And there was a pattern. It wasn’t just sugar—it was acid.”
The problem?
Most drinks on the market—even the “healthy” ones—are acidic.
When Angie told patients to avoid these drinks, the next question was always the same: “So what can I drink?”
Her only answer was water.
And that wasn’t enough.
A 15-Year Journey of Research and Innovation
That moment sparked years of research, testing, and development. It led to a new category in oral health: a pH-neutral, sugar-free drink designed by a dentist.
It led to SmileSip.
Why She Created It
Dr Lang’s mission started at her own clinic, Love Your Smile, which she opened just 18 months after graduating.
She built a warm, welcoming environment—her team wore pink, the doors were pink, and patients felt like family.
But even in this positive setting, she saw a consistent barrier to long-term dental health: preventable damage from everyday drinks.
She started researching acidity, pH levels, and the oral microbiome. Any drink with a pH below 6.3 can damage dentine. Below 5.7? Your enamel starts to dissolve.
Yet almost every drink on the shelf falls into that range—juice, kombucha, soft drinks, sparkling water.
Water and unsweetened tea were the only safe options. But that didn’t meet people’s needs.
“I thought, this can’t be it. There has to be something else,” she said.
So she started creating it herself.
The Result: SmileSip
Dr Lang’s goal was simple: a drink that wouldn’t harm teeth.
But she went further. She wanted it to improve oral health—on the go.
SmileSip is sugar-free and pH-neutral, so it doesn’t cause erosion or decay. But it also offers instant benefits you can feel:
- Relief from dry mouth
- A cleaner, smoother mouthfeel
- Prevention of stains
- Support for good oral bacteria
- Freshness without harsh mint
It’s made with a proprietary blend of xylitol, prebiotics, and botanicals, designed to stay in the mouth longer and keep working after you’ve finished drinking.
“I wanted people to feel the benefit—not just avoid the damage,” said Dr Lang.
